Poker Visor from Star Trek May Be a Fake
When Ted Moustakis of New Jersey put out $6,000 for a poker visor it was one he thought was worn by the android Data on the set of the Star Trek: The Next Generation show. The actor who played Data, Brent Spinner, told Moustakis when they met at a convention, that he has sold that visor to a private auction, which meant that the visor Ted bought was a fake. Poker lingo:
- SPLIT [OPENERS] - In draw poker, to discard one or more openers, usually to draw to a straight or flush. Normally requires the opener to declare the act and retain the discards so that the act of opening can later be validated.
- SPLIT [THE POT] - To split the pot between two or more players. Related term: QUARTER.
- STRING BET - An unethical and often illegal means of raising whereby a player puts a call-size stack of chips into the pot and, after observing the reactions of the players, then goes back to his stack and puts out more, thus raising.
- FREE CARD - A card dealt after all players checked in a betting round.
- LITTLE SLICK - In Hold'em, hole cards of A-2, suited or not.
- CASE - The fourth card of a particular rank, as in "he folded the case 9" when describing where all the 9s were in a hand. Comes from the game of Faro where an employee of the house, called the "case keeper". kept track of the number of each rank of card remaining.
