Holiday Fundraiser on Poker Strip
It is going to take place on January 12, but the spirit of Christmas will still be strong as poker stars, celebrities and athletes all get together to raise money by playing poker. The Xtreme Couture GI Foundation will benefit from a Charity Poker Tournament that will run at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas, and 2006 World Series of Poker main event champion Jamie Gold will be on hand. TV star Dean Cain will be there as well, as well as Randy Couture and other mixed-martial-arts fighters, all hoping to raise money to help injured GI’s.

Poker jargon:
- FREE CARD - A card dealt after all players checked in a betting round.
- LAY ODDS - To give favorable odds to an opponent.
- DRAWING DEAD - A draw in which it is impossible to obtain a winning hand for any of a variety of reasons: an opponent's hand is better than whatever you are drawing to, the card(s) that make your hand are out of play, or (in Hold'em) give an opponent a stronger hand even if it makes yours. Frequently used in the past tense, since one rarely knows it at the time.
- FAMILY POT - A pot where all of the players at the table are participating, even after each has had an opportunity to act.
- FILL - To draw a card that makes a five-card hand (straight, flush, full house, straight flush).
- SUICIDE KING - King of Hearts. So named because in the drawing the king appears to be stabbing himself in the head.
