The 9 year old daughter of Problem Gambling Foundation chief executive John Stansfield was watching the Simpson’s one evening when she spotted a commercial for a poker site, an instance that has New Zealanders seeking a probe into why the commercial aired during a time that a child could see it. Poker jargon:
- FREEROLL - [1] A poker tournament that does not charge a buy-in fee; players must earn buy-in credits through previous play at the same establishment. [2] Having a lock on part of a pot (sure to win a greater fraction of the pot than one is betting) and playing to win more or all of it.
- RUNNER-RUNNER - A hand made using both of the last two cards dealt.
- SUICIDE KING - King of Hearts. So named because in the drawing the king appears to be stabbing himself in the head.
- DRAW - [1] A class of poker games characterized by players being dealt 5 cards face-down and later having the opportunity to replace some of the original 5. "Draw poker" and "Five-card draw" are examples of usage. [2] In stud and Hold'em games, the set of cards that will be dealt later can be collectively called "the draw". [3] To discard some number of cards and have dealt an equal number of replacements.
- ROLLED UP - In seven-card stud, being dealt three of a kind in the first three cards.
- UNDER THE GUN - The position that has to act first in a round of betting.
