A county Antrim man is hoping for an early Christmas this year as he prepares to take part in a poker tournament which could net him a cool $$1,000,000.
The online poker and gambling company PartyGaming is seeking to make things right with the US authorities, and as a result may be facing monetary and other penalties for accepting bets online. The threat of prosecution makes banks anxious about lending money to the company, as that money may end up getting tied up with the US courts, or disappearing. The company, once the largest of online poker companies, is now facing difficulties in making acquisitions without the power of banks behind it…
The Australian consultancy Gaming Associates has been retained in order to investigate an alleged $7 million scandal, and as a result even more questions about certain poker rooms have been raised. Gaming Associates was brought in during the month of November to investigate what was called a security breach that allowed a poker room employee to get an access to private information that led to his winning a major poker tournament. The issue that many are taking with the investigation is concerning the fact that the poker room itself is funding the investigation, and there are no third party eyes on the ground.
Online poker room Party Poker recently moved the main weekly satellite for qualifying for the Party Poker Irish Poker Championship. In light of the upcoming Christmas Holiday, the main $240 weekly satellite was moved from Tuesday to Sunday. This means that the last chance to qualify for the event is going to be on December 23rd…
