Ex-Buncombe Sheriff, Deputies Charged In Illegal Video Poker Case
RALEIGH, N.C. — Former Buncombe County Sheriff Bobby Medford and three former deputies have been charged for taking money to help protect an illegal video poker ring in western North Carolina, according to an indictment unsealed Thursday.

- OPEN-HANDED - A category of games characterized by a part of each player's hand being exposed.
- WALK - A pot won by the last blind when no one opens.
- BLACK - When referring to chips, black usually stands for $100 casino chips. "This guy sits down with a stack of blacks and raises the first bet." Not ALL casinos use black for $100 but that is the common usage.
- KICKER TROUBLE - Not having as high a kicker as an opponent.
- POCKET PAIR - Generic Hold'em term for 2 hole cards of the same rank.
- FREE CARD - A card dealt after all players checked in a betting round.
