In 2008 the PaddyPowerPoker.com sponsored poker extravaganza known as the Irish Open will once again be held on Easter, spreading cards on the holiday for players who wish to take a shot at the €3 million-guaranteed prize pool. Running from March 19 to March 24, the Irish Open will continue the tradition of high class, quality poker tournaments at the Citywest Hotel, which has been called the “ideal location” for the 2008 Irish Open by Paddy Power. As many as a thousand players will be able to fit into the poker room, where the main event - a €4,200 buy-in - will take place.
Online poker players typically have a lot of pride in their performance if they do well, and likely would rather not have it be known if they do poorly, but till now that information was public knowledge, thanks to some websites scanning, tracking and ranking players at well known sites. One well known online poker site has come out against this practice and sent out a cease and desist notice that would effectively end it. This action was taken after some online poker players complained that the tracking and reporting was a violation of their privacy.
