Seven Charged Over Illegal Poker Games
Mississauga raids have resulted in 80 people being detained in connection with the running of illegal poker games, but only seven have been charged. The OPP Illegal Gambling Unit and the Peel Regional Police hit four businesses with search warrants, the end of an investigation that got under way last year in December. Reports had come in that people were attending Texas Holdem poker tournaments and being charged entry fees, putting them in the illegal area of the law…

Useful poker terms:
- FILL - To draw a card that makes a five-card hand (straight, flush, full house, straight flush).
- DOOR [CARD] - A player's first upcard in stud games.
- LATE POSITION - For a particular betting round, a player who does not have to act until most of the other players have acted.
- TRIPS - Three of a kind. In Hold'em the term SET is used when two of the three cards are hole cards.
- STUD - Any of several poker games in which some of each players' cards are exposed.
- POSSIBLE [STRAIGHT/FLUSH] - Up cards that quite possibly could lead to a straight and/or a flush.
