Earnings Up for WPT
The World Poker Tour continues to be a safe bet for investors based on earnings, which are up for Lakes Entertainment, the parent company of the WPT. The second quarter earnings have more than doubled, according to a late Friday announcement from Lakes Entertainment, which put the WPT on the map. Revenue, however, was down for the second quarter to $8.1 million, down from $11.2 million last year…

- FACE CARD - A jack, queen or king (a card with a face on it, not joker).
- OVERCALL - To call a bet after one or more players already called.
- DEAD MAN'S HAND - Generically: two pair, aces and eights. Specifically: the black aces, black eights and nine of diamonds. The hand Wild Bill Hickok was holding when he was shot to death.
- MITES AND LICE - A hand consisting of two pair, threes over twos.
- POT - The total amount of money bet so far in a hand.
- TOP PAIR - In flop games, having a hole card that matches the highest card on the board.
