The grassroots organization created to fight for poker rights in the United States has gotten serious in hiring some legal assistance by selecting a law firm to lobby on the group’s behalf. The DC based firm, Barnes & Thornburg, has been retained to assist in general representation of the PPA with the government, and “legislative and regulatory initiatives involving internet gaming.” Barnes & Thornburg has served other clients in similar fashion in the past such as the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. The lobbying firm has a solid track record, with revenue totaling more than $2 million last year.
