Danish Court Rules Poker a Game of Skill
The question of the decade seems to be “is poker a game of skill or a game of chance” and a recent ruling by a Danish court has come up with an answer. According to a municipal court in the suburb of Lyngby, the answer is “both.” On Friday the court determined that there was enough skill required in the game to make it legitimate competition, and that the president of the Danish Poker Association was innocent of charges of arranging illegal gambling events. This ruling is counter to a decision by the Justice Ministry’s legal affairs committee from 2006.
