Official: Poker not fix-all
ST. MARTINVILLE Its true that St. Martin Parish uses some of its video poker revenue to fix its roads. But that parish was forced to go to voters for a road sales tax to make up the difference.

Casino poker language:
- CALLER - One who calls. Sometimes used collectively, as in "3 callers".
- RAISE - To wager more than the minimum required to call, forcing other players to put in more money as well.
- OPEN-ENDED STRAIGHT - Four cards to a straight which can be completed by drawing a card at either end. E.g., 6-7-8-9 is an open-ended straight. Also: BOBTAIL STRAIGHT. Compare: INSIDE STRAIGHT.
- FACE CARD - A jack, queen or king (a card with a face on it, not joker).
- COMPUTER HAND - Texas Hold'em hole cards of Q-7 offsuit. More generically, any hand that computer analysis/simulation determines is positive but turns out to be difficult to play in practice.
- NICKEL - Five dollars, usually represented by a red casino check.
