A four-way chop and a lengthy head-to-head battle for the last of the money highlighted action at the Poker Stars Sunday Million, while the Full Tilt Online Poker Series continued its festivities….

 

This morning, a NASA suborbital sounding rocket launched from Poker Flat Research Range into an aurora display over northern Alaska at 3:45 a.m. Alaska Standard Time, allowing researchers to gather more data about the power source behind pulsating auroras.

The World Poker Store Inc. and The Bar Poker League hosted its third Texas Hold ‘em State Finals tournament Saturday January 27th at Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel in Morton, MN. The World Series of Poker may still be half a year away, but poker players around the globe are actively trying to win a coveted seat to the $10,000 Main Event. Janelle Rettig, from Iowa, had never won a tournament before Sunday, and her recent win netted her one of those $10,000 seats…

 

Many online poker players and industry members are holding out hope for some kind of exemption for online poker from the the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), but president of the American Gaming Association Frank Fahrenkopf doesn’t think that there is “a chance in hell.” The head of the Poker Players Association recently met with officials in Key West, Florida with optimistic vibes, but Fahrenkopf believes that even if there is the technology available to regulate online poker, State taxes levied would make it unprofitable.
