Tileston Outreach Center Gets Help from Poker Players
The Tileston Holdem Poker Tournament was recently held to benefit the free medical clinic, the first fund raiser of its kind. Useful poker terms:
- STUD - Any of several poker games in which some of each players' cards are exposed.
- FOUR OF A KIND - A hand containing all four cards of the same rank.
- REPRESENT - Implying, by one's betting style, that one has a particular hand.
- FIFTH STREET - In stud poker, the fifth card to be dealt to each player. Sometimes used to refer to the last card dealt in Hold'em, although the more common term for this is RIVER (q.v.).
- ONE-EYED - The jack of hearts, jack of spades or king of diamonds. So named because the characters are drawn in profile, thus showing only one eye.
- WHEEL - A-2-3-4-5. Usually discussed in the context of lowball where it is the best possible hand. Can also refer to a 5-high straight in high games. Also: BICYCLE.
