The sounds of poker continued to fill the Event Center at Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa on Friday. Over 620 players took to the felt like fishes to water for the start of the $1,000 buy-in No Limit Event.

 

In the U.K. the hit show Celebrity Big Brother (CBB) has always been a source of scandal and a definite news maker, and now one of the show’s stars has been invited to be the face of the upcoming Asian Poker Classic. Sponsored by MaharajahClub.com, the Asian Poker Classic is the biggest poker event ever to be held in India, so perhaps it makes sense that Bollywood star and CBB staple Shilpa Shetty has been asked to present the APC, taking place in Goa, March 1-5 2007…

 

Going by the nickname of “Kamikaze”, Tae Baik of Leonia, NJ, has become the latest champion in Atlantic City, taking home the win at the 2007 Borgata Winter Poker Open. When the 1,370 players got down to just three, it was Baik, Hui Ming Zhu of Scarborough, Canada and Emad Alabsi of Wickliffe, Ohio. Baik’s win results in $152,960 in first place prize money for winning the first of the Borgata’s events…

At L.A.’s newly renovated Crystal Casino & Hotel heads up poker will be the name of the game as players compete in a series of heads up poker games for the title of “World Heads Up Champion”. The game is Texas Holdem, currently the undisputed champion of poker games, and the buy in is ten grand, the same amount as the buy in to the Main Event of the World Series of Poker. Sixty Four players will compete for themselves and as representatives of one of four international regions…

 

French TV poker show Direct Poker will be joining forces in a new sponsorship deal with online poker site Everest Poker, which is known for its Eurocentric poker events. France has been enjoying a rush of new poker TV, and Direct Poker is launched by Direct 8 in conjunction with Everest Poker. The show will run from January to July of this year, with the first show airing on Direct 8 on January 26th…
