Anne Taylor was recently dealt the luckiest hand in the game of poker, a Royal Flush, and was paid handsomely for it. The 48 year old warehouse worker - who earns 200 a week at her Leeds, UK plant job - was awarded a jackpot that was offerd to the first such hand dealt, and had grown to GBP 258,982. Poker lingo:
- FLUSH - A poker hand consisting of five cards all one suit.
- READ - To determine whether an opponent has a good, medium or bad hand by observing his personal behavior. An inexact science.
- ALL-IN - To have all of one's chips in the pot. A player who is all-in cannot be forced out of the pot by more betting, but is only eligible to win that portion of the pot he has contributed to. Generally, a SIDE POT is created each time a player is all-in.
- EDGE - An advantage over an opponent, either specific or subjective.
- HIGH-LOW SPLIT - Forms of poker in which the pot is split between the best hand and best lowball hand.
- FLOORMAN - The casino representative in charge of the card room or a section of a card room. Arbitrates disputes when unusual events happen.
