The third season of GSN’s High Stakes Poker kicks off on January 15th at 9pm with Jamie Gold, the 2006 World Series of Poker champion, taking a seat along with other players. When the Super 8 Motel at the Millbrook First Nation was the destination for a poker tournament with a prize pool of $10,000, all seemed well and good for the MaritimePoker.com sponsored event, until motel authorities said they would not go ahead with the event without express permission from the province. The event was shifted then to Calico’s Lounge in downtown Truro. Not only are the police watching the event, but the RCMP is looking in on it as well, promising to make the evening tense regardless of the action on the tables.
