Poker lingo:

  • BIG BLIND - A blind bet, usually a raise of an earlier blind which would be called the SMALL BLIND. In limit poker, the BIG BLIND is usually the size of the minimum bet on the first round of betting.
  • SPLIT [THE POT] - To split the pot between two or more players. Related term: QUARTER.
  • RAISE - To wager more than the minimum required to call, forcing other players to put in more money as well.
  • BICYCLE - The best possible low hand: A-2-3-4-5. More common term: WHEEL.
  • FULL OF - Describes a full house. "Fives full of queens" is 5-5-5-Q-Q.
  • CAP - To cap the betting is to make the last permitted raise in a round.
