The very first online poker site that specifically targets Southeast Asia, as well as the Asian market in Europe, has launched recently in India. The play-money online site, MaharajaClub.com, kicked off on Wednesday, a move the Asian owned Maharajah Gaming made to widen its reach in the Asian market, according to a company press release. The new site launches despite a recent change in the US legislature concerning online gambling, and specifically online poker, and may be able to capitalize on the vacuum created in the market…

 

When the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was passed into law by President George Bush on October 13th, many online poker rooms began to worry about their future. Some turned away from US players while others began to reap the benefit of staying in a market with shrinking supply and huge demand. Some, like Party Gaming’s Party Poker and 888.com’s Pacific Poker, have begun talking about taking some drastic steps to keep afloat after dropping the US market - steps that may include joining forces…

 

The ability to bluff your opponents with a poker face might seem a little fanciful, but bluffing isn’t really the way professional poker players make a living. In fact, one of the biggest mistakes amateur players make, when playing against professionals, is thinking that the pros are pulling Jedi mind tricks on them when making bluffs.

 

The Isle of Man registered turnkey provider and poker network company Microgaming has announced the addition of a new member to its growing global online poker network.

 

PokerStars’ record breaking run of giant prize pools continued this weekend with a third consecutive weekly record breaker. This weekend’s Stars Sunday Million ($500 buy in) saw 2 785 entrants join the fun, translating to an incredible $1 392 500 pool, with a scheduled first-place payout of $249 396.75 falling only hundreds shy of the quarter-million mark.

 

Ontario politicians may be trying to pass legislation banning online gambling adverts in the province, but elsewhere in Canada there’s a more welcoming attitude to the industry. The Kahnawake First Nation Mohawks in Quebec province, home to well over 300 online gambling brands and host to a multitude of company servers will soon have competition from The Alexander First Nation.

 

The ubiquitous London taxi cabs will be offering poker entertainment for passengers soon courtesy of Cabvision and Full Tilt Poker.com. The two companies have partnered to launch an interactive poker series that will be shown as part of the Cabvision network in London taxis.
