World Tavern Poker Event a Success
The third annual World Tavern Poker Open was held on October 20 - 23 at Binion’s Gambling Hall and Hotel, best known for being the birthplace of the World Series of Poker. Twenty Four states were represented at the World Tavern Poker Open, with over 300 players converging on Las Vegas for the event. Poker argot:
- TURN - The fourth community card in Hold'em.
- BLANK - Used in describing stud and Hold'em games. Refers to a dealt card that does not offer any value; stating the actual rank and suit would detract from a description of the hand. "The last card was a blank.".
- DRAW - [1] A class of poker games characterized by players being dealt 5 cards face-down and later having the opportunity to replace some of the original 5. "Draw poker" and "Five-card draw" are examples of usage. [2] In stud and Hold'em games, the set of cards that will be dealt later can be collectively called "the draw". [3] To discard some number of cards and have dealt an equal number of replacements.
- PAT - Holding or being dealt a pat hand. "I'm pat" would mean "I don't want to draw any cards.
- SPLIT [THE POT] - To split the pot between two or more players. Related term: QUARTER.
- WIRED [PAIR] - A pair in the hole. In 5-card stud, a door card that pairs the hole card.
