Texas Hold-’Em Celebrity Poker Tournament coming to Fantasy Springs in November
Dick Van Patten, popular TV-dad on the 1977-81 family drama Eight Is Enough, invites the public to compete for a $75,000 purse during his 2nd Annual No-limit Texas Hold Em Celebrity Poker Tournament scheduled for the weekend of Nov. 10-12 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

Poker slang:
- QUARTER - [1] Twenty-five dollars, often symbolized by a green casino chip. [2] To divide half a pot between two tying hands. In split pot games, a player who "ties" another player for their half of the pot is said to be "quartered". One might say "I didn't bet my A-2 because I figured I'd get quartered".
- STUCK - Down a nontrivial amount of money, as in "he's stuck $800".
- PAT - Holding or being dealt a pat hand. "I'm pat" would mean "I don't want to draw any cards.
- RAISE - To wager more than the minimum required to call, forcing other players to put in more money as well.
- PASSED OUT. - A hand in which nobody opens. What happens next is a function of the game being played.
- PAT HAND - In draw poker, a hand that does not need any more cards. Specifically, a straight, flush, full house or straight flush. One might bluff and represent a pat hand but actually hold something else.
