Lets get poker at the local dog tracks
Poker has become so popular, pari-mutuel wagering facilities (dog tracks, jai-lai arenas) are getting in on the action. Yet, Pensacola Greyhound, nor Mobile Greyhound offer poker at its locations. When I first moved to Pensacola from South Florida a year ago, I was surprised to find this out.

Poker argot:
- BURN - To discard the top card of the deck prior to dealing, usually done for every dealing round except the first. The theory being that if somehow the cards are marked (illegally) no one will know what card will next be dealt, only what card will be burned. This makes marked cards less of an advantage, hence tends to reduce cheating.
- TRIPS - Three of a kind. In Hold'em the term SET is used when two of the three cards are hole cards.
- LIVE ONE - The best kind of opponent, a poor player with a lot of money to lose and in a hurry to lose it.
- FREEROLL - [1] A poker tournament that does not charge a buy-in fee; players must earn buy-in credits through previous play at the same establishment. [2] Having a lock on part of a pot (sure to win a greater fraction of the pot than one is betting) and playing to win more or all of it.
- OPEN-HANDED - A category of games characterized by a part of each player's hand being exposed.
- RAISE - To wager more than the minimum required to call, forcing other players to put in more money as well.
