Indiana Poker Room Opens in October
On October 7 excited poker players will be rubbing the felt and cards will be in the air as a new poker room opens at the Lafayette River Club. Described as a “totally legal, above ground operation” by Matthew Lackey, the new poker room will be the place where the Lafayette River Club will be hosting a number of special events each month. Poker glossary:
- RUSH - A winning streak. Also "ON A RUSH".
- SEVENTH STREET - The seventh card dealt in 7-card stud.
- TAPPED [OUT] - Out of money. Can refer to a player running out of money in the course of a hand, thus still active for the main pot; or can refer to a player who has lost his bankroll and can no longer play.
- FREE CARD - A card dealt after all players checked in a betting round.
- CHECK RAISE - To check initially, then raise a bet made later on in the same betting round. Frequently a sign of strength, but may be a bluff.
- LIVE BLIND - The last and largest blind bet may or may not be LIVE. If LIVE, the blind bettor has the option of "raising" his own blind in the event the bet is called around to him. This is normal, and is sometimes referred to as "blinds are live".
