Cops Run Poker Run for Charity
The Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Club recently took action to raise money for kids with their annual charity event, a poker run that took the cops on their motorcycles on a predetermined route to collect poker cards and raise money. The Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Pikes Peak region was the organization picked to receive the efforts from the Blue Knights’ charitable run, which took riders to five different spots in order to draw a playing card. Once all five cards were drawn, the best poker hand won a prize drawing from the $13,000 raised for the event…

Poker dictionary:
- FULL HOUSE - A hand consisting of 3-of-a-kind and a (different) pair.
- OPENERS - Cards in a hand that qualify a player to open the betting.
- ACTION - Money that is being bet. "NO ACTION" means a hand or game has few bettors and fewer raisers. "Gimme some action" is ostensibly a plea for calls and raises.
- CUT - To break the deck into 2 stacks of at least 5 cards each. Usually performed by the player to the dealer's right to insure that the the deck is not stacked.
- PAT - Holding or being dealt a pat hand. "I'm pat" would mean "I don't want to draw any cards.
- EXPECTATION - The long-run [dis-]advantage of a given situation, specifically without reference to any particular outcome. I.e., what you figure to win [lose] on average after a large number of repetitions of the same situation.
