64-year-old Peter Dicks was recently arrested in the USA on anti-gaming charges, sparking a panicked rush of action for Sportingbet Plc, for whom Dicks has served as non-executive Chairman. Dicks’ arrest prompted his company to suspend its shares immediately on the London Stock Market. Useful poker terms:
- SEVENTH STREET - The seventh card dealt in 7-card stud.
- RUSH - A winning streak. Also "ON A RUSH".
- OVER - A term used in describing two pair or a full house. "Kings over tens" means two pair, kings and tens. "Jacks over", also "Jacks up" describes a hand that is two pair: Jacks with an unspecified lower pair. Also used to describe a full house, distinguishing the three of a kind from the pair. The hand J-J-J-A-A could be described as "Full house, Jacks over Aces".
- TRIPS - Three of a kind. In Hold'em the term SET is used when two of the three cards are hole cards.
- QUALIFIER - A minimum standard that a hand must meet in order to win. Usually applied to the lowball side of a high-low split pot.
- REPRESENT - Implying, by one's betting style, that one has a particular hand.
