I. Nelson Rose questions federal authority on online gambling
Respected online gambling legal authority, university professor I. Nelson Rose published an interesting article this week, starting with the provocative view that the United States Congress has lost sight of a fundamental fact about gambling: It is up to the states, not the federal government, to decide what forms of gambling should be legal.

Casino poker language:
- LAY ODDS - To give favorable odds to an opponent.
- TURN - The fourth community card in Hold'em.
- TAP - In no-limit games, to wager all of one's money in one bet.
- WHEEL - A-2-3-4-5. Usually discussed in the context of lowball where it is the best possible hand. Can also refer to a 5-high straight in high games. Also: BICYCLE.
- SPREAD LIMIT - A variation on fixed limit wherein the minimum and maximum bets are different. A 1-4-8 game allows bets from 1 to 4 in the early rounds and 1-8 in the last round. A 1-4-8-16 game allows bets from 1 to 4 in the early rounds, 1 to 8 in the next-to-last round, and 1 to 16 in the last round.
- FIRE - To make the first bet in a betting round. Used to emphasize that the player bet when a check was possible, showing strength.
