Poker-Faced TV Producer From Malibu Takes the Game’s Big Pot
LAS VEGAS When Jamie Gold made up his mind to conquer poker, he sought out one of his heroes, card-playing legend Johnny Chan, and pleaded for his help. Gold, a TV producer and former agent, told Chan he would represent him in Hollywood in exchange for the master’s guidance.

Poker lingo:
- STAKE - The amount of a player's BUY-IN, or the amount of money they are willing to play with in a given session. Compare: BANKROLL.
- BELLY BUSTER - An inside straight draw. Same as GUTSHOT.
- OPENER - The player who opens the betting, especially in draw poker. A hand may have no openers, in which case it is PASSED OUT, i.e., new hands are dealt.
- ONE-EYED - The jack of hearts, jack of spades or king of diamonds. So named because the characters are drawn in profile, thus showing only one eye.
- ROLLED UP - In seven-card stud, being dealt three of a kind in the first three cards.
- RUSH - A winning streak. Also "ON A RUSH".
