2006 WSOP: Day Five of the World Series of Poker Main Event Starts Today
The scheduled play is from 300 players down to 150 on Day Five of the 37th annual World Series of Poker Main Event. Proportionally few professionals remain in the hunt for the $12 million first prize, or at least landing in the top 12 positions, each of which pays a minimum of $1 million this year. Poker jargon:
- RAIL - A barrier dividing the card playing area from a public area.
- FISH - A player who loses money. An old saying is "If you can't spot the fish at the table, *you* are the fish.".
- MIDDLE POSITION - Betting positions approximately halfway around the table from the first player to act.
- BIG SLICK - In Texas Hold'em, hole cards of A-K, suited or not.
- BAD GAME - Any game in which you figure to be the loser, because the other players are better than you.
- RAKE - Money taken from each pot and given to the house in return for hosting the game. Usually a percentage of the pot (5%-10%) up to some maximum amount.
