August 4 - While large poker tournaments are never without their fair share of animals - there are always plenty of ’sharks’ and ‘fish’ - the 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) had the pleasure of welcoming Mikey, the world’s first WSOP chimp contender.
Today at noon, the World Series of Poker moves into its third day, culminating in final table action next Thursday. Of the 1,159 players remaining, 873 will win at least $14,597. There’ll be 12 payouts of more than $1 million. The winner gets $12 million.
Entries for the 2006 WSOP Main Event had barely closed when Milwaukee’s Best Light, which recently signed on as the ‘presenting sponsor’ for the World Series of Poker, announced a last special bonus for this year’s bubble finishers….
