Police in Normal say a masked gunman has made off with a “substantial amount” of money after robbing an illegal poker game at a local pizza place this week.
August 3 - As the 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event continues towards its exciting finale, the remaining players are even more motivated to win as this year’s WSOP champion will take home a record-breaking $12 million first prize.
The last of the Turlock 11 was knocked out of the World Series of Poker No Limit Texas Hold ‘em Championship on Wednesday in Las Vegas.
While those 1400 or so poker players who made it past Days One and Two of this year’s World Series of Poker get a day off, those who didn’t make it get a second chance today. Event 40, the first of five events collectively known as the “second chance events”, kicks off at noon in the Amazon Room. This, unlike the rest of the second chance events, will be a $1000 buy in event, and, like all the rest of the events this season, will be No-Limit Texas Holdem…
Last week the US Open of Surfing attracted athletes to Huntington Beach, who come not only to dissipate in the extreme sports but also to try out the poker faces. The pro athlete poker game being held was titled the PartyPoker.net Big ThrowDown and was a series of poker games where each day top names from skateboarding, wake boarding, BMX, snowboarding, and FMX all tried their hands at the most popular game in the nation. The finals, which will be played with one player advancing from each division, will be held in the forthcoming weeks…
Big news: Daniel Negreanu, the affable Canadian known as “Kid Poker,” made a big move late Wednesday to amass 154,200 in chips. Moments earlier he had just 71,000. “I’ve got these guys set up,” Negreanu said. Apparently, his plan was working. The day’s leader, Dmitri Nobles, had 317,000 in chips.
