Extreme Sports Athletes Try Poker
Last week the US Open of Surfing attracted athletes to Huntington Beach, who come not only to dissipate in the extreme sports but also to try out the poker faces. The pro athlete poker game being held was titled the PartyPoker.net Big ThrowDown and was a series of poker games where each day top names from skateboarding, wake boarding, BMX, snowboarding, and FMX all tried their hands at the most popular game in the nation. Poker talk:
- SHORT-STACKED - Playing with a only a small amount of money, thus limiting one's risk and reward.
- PAT HAND - In draw poker, a hand that does not need any more cards. Specifically, a straight, flush, full house or straight flush. One might bluff and represent a pat hand but actually hold something else.
- RUNNER-RUNNER - A hand made using both of the last two cards dealt.
- FISH - A player who loses money. An old saying is "If you can't spot the fish at the table, *you* are the fish.".
- FILL - To draw a card that makes a five-card hand (straight, flush, full house, straight flush).
- DEAD MAN'S HAND - Generically: two pair, aces and eights. Specifically: the black aces, black eights and nine of diamonds. The hand Wild Bill Hickok was holding when he was shot to death.
