Poker players advance
Two valley residents will advance to the third round of the 2006 World Series of Poker this week. Dawna Wilson and Paul Shoquist are among the 550 people who made it through the first day of round two at the Las Vegas, Nev. competition Tuesday.

Useful poker terms:
- WORLD SERIES OF POKER - A series of several different poker games with relatively large buy-ins, culminating in a $10,000 buy-in no-limit Hold'em tournament, the winner of which is crowned the World Poker Champion. Sponsored by Binion's Horseshoe Club in Las Vegas.
- FISH - A player who loses money. An old saying is "If you can't spot the fish at the table, *you* are the fish.".
- SMALL BLIND - In games with two blinds the first blind is the SMALL BLIND because it is usually one-half (or less) the second or large blind.
- FAVORITE - Before all the cards are dealt, a hand that figures to be the winner. Ant: UNDERDOG.
- BOARD - The exposed cards in Hold'em and stud. Also BOARD CARDS.
- TIGHT - [1] A style of play that entails playing fewer hands than average. Antonym: LOOSE. [2] A FULL HOUSE.
