Final head count for WSoP is 8,773 players
Total entries for the Main Event in this year’s World Series of Poker Championships currently ongoing in Last Vegas have not only broke all records, but have exceeded the expectations of the organizers. That’s official. The final numbers on the total field and first place cash prize for the 2006 World Series of Poker were announced this week.

Poker lingo:
- POT - The total amount of money bet so far in a hand.
- RAISE - To wager more than the minimum required to call, forcing other players to put in more money as well.
- SIXTH STREET - The sixth card dealt in 7-card stud.
- ONE-EYED - The jack of hearts, jack of spades or king of diamonds. So named because the characters are drawn in profile, thus showing only one eye.
- FULL HOUSE - A hand consisting of 3-of-a-kind and a (different) pair.
- DEAD MONEY - Money contributed to the pot by players who have folded.
