2006 WSOP: It’s Official - WSOP Main Event Attendance Breaks Record
The start of the Main Event at the World Series of Poker is still a few days off, but as of July 23 more than six thousand players have registered to play. This already breaks the record of last year, itself a record-setting event at 5,619 entries. Each of the more than 6,100 currently signed up to play starting Friday, July 28th, have paid their $10,000 buy in, or had it paid for them by a sponsoring company…

Poker glossary:
- SHORT-STACKED - Playing with a only a small amount of money, thus limiting one's risk and reward.
- FIFTH STREET - In stud poker, the fifth card to be dealt to each player. Sometimes used to refer to the last card dealt in Hold'em, although the more common term for this is RIVER (q.v.).
- HOLE CARDS - In Stud and Hold'em, the face-down cards dealt to each player.
- POSSIBLE [STRAIGHT/FLUSH] - Up cards that quite possibly could lead to a straight and/or a flush.
- ROLLED UP - In seven-card stud, being dealt three of a kind in the first three cards.
- QUALIFIER - A minimum standard that a hand must meet in order to win. Usually applied to the lowball side of a high-low split pot.
