A Winnipeg man hopes to win as much as $10 million at the World Series of Poker, after raking in more than $100,000 US at the tournament last year.

Useful poker terms:
- DOUBLE BELLY BUSTER - A two-way inside straight. E.g., 3-5-6-7-9.
- OPENER - The player who opens the betting, especially in draw poker. A hand may have no openers, in which case it is PASSED OUT, i.e., new hands are dealt.
- JOKER - A 53rd card in the deck, distinct from the others, used as a wild card or as a BUG.
- SUITED - Two or more cards all the same suit. Ant: OFF-SUIT.
- EVEN-MONEY - A bet that pays off exactly the amount wagered. E.g., "Double or nothing" is an even-money bet.
- PAY OFF - Calling a bet with little expectation of winning, unless the opponent is bluffing.
