2006 WSOP: WSOP Omaha Event Day One
The second Omaha event of the 2006 World Series of Poker begins today at the Rio in Las Vegas at 2pm, deftly scheduled two hours behind the start of another event, Event 11. Event 12, the $5,000 Omaha Hi Low Split, is the second big ticket price event this year, following the $5,000 No Limit event earlier in the week. Poker lingo:
- NICKEL - Five dollars, usually represented by a red casino check.
- HOLE CARDS - In Stud and Hold'em, the face-down cards dealt to each player.
- DEAD MAN'S HAND - Generically: two pair, aces and eights. Specifically: the black aces, black eights and nine of diamonds. The hand Wild Bill Hickok was holding when he was shot to death.
- BIG SLICK - In Texas Hold'em, hole cards of A-K, suited or not.
- KICKER TROUBLE - Not having as high a kicker as an opponent.
- TRIPS - Three of a kind. In Hold'em the term SET is used when two of the three cards are hole cards.
