If there is one thing the folks at WPT Enterprises, the parent company of the super popular poker program World Poker Tour, understand it is how to market poker. One area where they fell behind the curve was online poker rooms, presumably because of the difficulty in an American business setting up such an enterprise in a company where it is mostly illegal.   • FREEZE-OUT - A table-stakes game that continues until a small number of players (possibly only one) has all the money. The major event in The World Series of Poker is a freeze-out game.
  • TO GO - The current betting level, as in "$20 to go" meaning every player must contribute $20 (total) or drop. A $10 raise would then make the pot "$30 to go".
  • WHITE BLACKBIRD - A hand so astonishingly rare as to be unworthy of the opponents' consideration, e.g., being dealt a pat royal flush in 5-card draw.
  • OPENER - The player who opens the betting, especially in draw poker. A hand may have no openers, in which case it is PASSED OUT, i.e., new hands are dealt.
  • GUT SHOT - A draw to an inside straight, as in 2-3-4-6.
  • OVERPAIR - In Hold'em, a pair in the hole that is larger than any community card on the board.
