First-ever Wood City Poker Banquet brings high stakes to area
The first Annual Wood City Poker League & Banquet with eight area bars participating and approximately 60 players in the league. The season went on from December 2005 to May 2006.

Poker lexicon:
- HOOK - A Jack. So named because the "J" resembles a hook.
- RIVER - The last card dealt in a hand of stud or Hold'em.
- FIRE - To make the first bet in a betting round. Used to emphasize that the player bet when a check was possible, showing strength.
- DEAD MONEY - Money contributed to the pot by players who have folded.
- OVER - A term used in describing two pair or a full house. "Kings over tens" means two pair, kings and tens. "Jacks over", also "Jacks up" describes a hand that is two pair: Jacks with an unspecified lower pair. Also used to describe a full house, distinguishing the three of a kind from the pair. The hand J-J-J-A-A could be described as "Full house, Jacks over Aces".
- ROLLED UP - In seven-card stud, being dealt three of a kind in the first three cards.
