In the early days of the WSOP probably the last thought running through the minds of Puggy Pearson, Benny Binion, Johnny Moss and Doyle Brunson was “Poker needs a Cover Girl,” but it looks like that day has come. While the beautiful people, both men and women, seem to be flying in the face of the “you don’t need a pretty face to be a poker champion” concept for some time now, it was only in recent years that poker pros seem to have erased any dividing line between poker and the rest of the world. Poker dictionary:
- BELLY BUSTER - An inside straight draw. Same as GUTSHOT.
- RING GAME - A standard game where players can come and go as they choose. The opposite of TOURNAMENT.
- ANTE - A small bet all players are required to make before a hand is dealt. Not all games have an ante. Related terms: BLIND, FORCED BET.
- FLAT CALL - To call a bet. Emphasizes that the caller did not raise.
- ONE-EYED - The jack of hearts, jack of spades or king of diamonds. So named because the characters are drawn in profile, thus showing only one eye.
- SUITED - Two or more cards all the same suit. Ant: OFF-SUIT.
