Victorian Racing Industry Denied Poker Machines
The Australian Hotels Association, gambiling outfits Tabcorp Holdings Ltd and Tattersalls and the Victorian racing industry all had their hopes on approval to put in more poker machines in various clubs and pubs in Victoria, but it is not to be so. Tuesday saw the announcment of Victoria gaming minister John Pandazopoulos, who said it was a non issue. The issue of adding poker machines was not under review, but rather the duopoly of the gaming industry itself.
Tabcorp and Tattersall have the market cornered when it comes to gaming, and Tattersall has made the recommendations of creating super clubs with as many as 250 poker machines, and idea heartily supported by Racing Victoria….
