State Senate pulls the plug on video poker
(RALEIGH) - It came as no surprise. The State Senate voted overwhelming, by a 44 to one vote, to get rid of video poker. “I do believe our state will be a better place because of this, said Sen. Charles Alberston, a Democrat who represents Duplin, Lenoir, and Sampson counties.

Poker lexicon:
- CHASE - To continue in a hand, often at poor odds, in the hopes of catching a much better hand. "He called, chasing the flush.".
- REPRESENT - Implying, by one's betting style, that one has a particular hand.
- BLANK - Used in describing stud and Hold'em games. Refers to a dealt card that does not offer any value; stating the actual rank and suit would detract from a description of the hand. "The last card was a blank.".
- TOKE - Gambling term for "tip", as in "Toke the cocktail waitress". Comes from the term "Token of appreciation".
- POT LIMIT - A game where the maximum bet is determined by the size of the pot at the time. Note that a player wanting to raise first calls the bet, then totals the pot to determine the maximum amount he can raise.
- RERAISE - To raise after an opponent has raised.
