North Carolina Video Poker to Be Gone Next Summer
The war waged against video poker in the southern state of North Carolina may be drawing to an end. The State House Rules Committee voted unanimously to approve a measure that would begin reducing the number of machines any one operator could use, eventually banning video poker machines by next summer. Naturally the video poker industries opposed the idea while the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association is ecstatic, having been calling for such a measure for some time now.

Poker lingo:
- GOOD GAME - A game with players worse than you so that you can expect to win a lot of money.
- STRAIGHT - A hand consisting of 5 cards in sequence but not in suit.
- SIDE POT - When an active player runs out of money during the course of a hand, the remaining players participate in a second or SIDE POT for the rest of the hand. Additional side pots are possible if several players run out of money at different points in a hand.
- KICKER - In hands containing pairs and trips, the highest card not matched. In draw games, sometimes a card kept for deception purposes.
- REPRESENT - Implying, by one's betting style, that one has a particular hand.
- DRAW OUT - To catch a card that improves your situation from a losing hand to a winning hand, especially when you beat someone holding a hand that usually figures to win.
