House OKs Video Poker Machine Phase-Out
RALEIGH, N.C. — The state House approved a bill Wednesday that would ban video poker machines in North Carolina by next summer. The vote was 114-1. A retailer now can’t have more than three machines. The bill would reduce the maximum to two by Oct. 1, one by March 1 and none by next July.

Poker argot:
- ALL-IN - To have all of one's chips in the pot. A player who is all-in cannot be forced out of the pot by more betting, but is only eligible to win that portion of the pot he has contributed to. Generally, a SIDE POT is created each time a player is all-in.
- DEAD MONEY - Money contributed to the pot by players who have folded.
- BUTTON CHARGE - A periodic fee paid by whoever is the button, perhaps every 20 minutes or 30 minutes. Constitutes part or all of the HOUSE CUT.
- DRAW OUT - To catch a card that improves your situation from a losing hand to a winning hand, especially when you beat someone holding a hand that usually figures to win.
- POCKET PAIR - Generic Hold'em term for 2 hole cards of the same rank.
- RAGS - Board cards that are small, not suited and not in sequence, e.g., 9-5-2. When "rags flop", it is unlikely that anyone has a good hand, except possibly the big blind in an unraised pot.
