The United States Congress is moving forward a strong action to shut down online gambling in the US, a move that many feel might be very bad for the entire poker industry. Some, however, point out that even if that were to come to pass, there would be plenty of legal online poker to be played, as long as the players were happy playing for fun.

Useful poker information:
- PAT - Holding or being dealt a pat hand. "I'm pat" would mean "I don't want to draw any cards.
- HOOK - A Jack. So named because the "J" resembles a hook.
- SUITED - Two or more cards all the same suit. Ant: OFF-SUIT.
- BIG BOBTAIL - An open-ended 4-card straight flush.
- TOP TWO PAIR - In flop games, having hole cards that make the highest possible two pair hand.
- DEALER'S CHOICE - In home games, a rule that permits the dealer to name which poker game to be played that hand. Often limited to selecting from a list provided.
