Whitefish Montana Saloon Wins Right to Play Poker
On May 15 the vote was held to decide whether or not a conditional use permit would be granted which would allow the downtown saloon in Whitefish, Montana to operate a poker table. City counselor Cris Coughlin was the only one to vote “no” and the three “yes” votes carry the day. - BUTTON CHARGE - A periodic fee paid by whoever is the button, perhaps every 20 minutes or 30 minutes. Constitutes part or all of the HOUSE CUT.
- SEAT POSITION - The actual seat a player has, normally numbered sequentially starting with 1 as the first seat to dealer's left. Not to be confused with POSITION in a particular pot. Typically unrelated to play of a hand but often important in peripheral aspects, e.g.: "Seats 1 and 10 are nonsmoking here", "Seat 5 has a good view of the table", "Seat 3 is in a high-traffic area".
- DOOR [CARD] - A player's first upcard in stud games.
- KICKER TROUBLE - Not having as high a kicker as an opponent.
- RAIL - A barrier dividing the card playing area from a public area.
- BET FOR VALUE - Betting a hand that, in the long run, is expected to win more than it loses. Antonym: BLUFF.
