Poker Pros Find Sports Sponsorship

Apparently there is a market for poker pro ring tones. At least, the folks over at Sports-Stuff.com seem to think so, as they have recently signed up two world-class poker pros to be part of their promotional family. Paul “The Truth” Darden, a World Series of Poker bracelet holder and World Poker Tour winner, has joined up with World Series of Poker champion Huck Seed in being sponsored by the ringing tone and wireless web page sports site…

Poker lingo:

  • DECLARE - In high/low games, declaring one's hand as high or low or both ways (usually done with chips in hand). Usually played in home games; casinos tend to play CARDS SPEAK.
  • BET FOR VALUE - Betting a hand that, in the long run, is expected to win more than it loses. Antonym: BLUFF.
  • TAP - In no-limit games, to wager all of one's money in one bet.
  • MITES AND LICE - A hand consisting of two pair, threes over twos.
  • UNDER THE GUN - The position that has to act first in a round of betting.
  • PAT - Holding or being dealt a pat hand. "I'm pat" would mean "I don't want to draw any cards.
