More Good News for Online Poker Room Company
The poker industry is still booming, despite what some critics may claim, as evidenced by many first quarter profits from a variety of poker industry giants, such as the parent company of Pacific Poker, 888 Holdings. Net gaming revenues were up 42% compared to the same period of the previous year, at $84 million in 2006 versus $60 million in 2005, according to figures published in an article in the London Times.
While poker continues to grow, 888 Holdings saw a bigger increase in their casino business, with revenues up around 32% from the previous quarter, on a per player basis. During this same time poker only grew 4% on the same individual basis…

Poker argot:
- TOP PAIR - In flop games, having a hole card that matches the highest card on the board.
- RUNNER-RUNNER - A hand made using both of the last two cards dealt.
- CASE - The fourth card of a particular rank, as in "he folded the case 9" when describing where all the 9s were in a hand. Comes from the game of Faro where an employee of the house, called the "case keeper". kept track of the number of each rank of card remaining.
- NICKEL - Five dollars, usually represented by a red casino check.
- MISDEAL - A hand dealt incorrectly that must be re-dealt.
