Defending Poker Champion Treats Game as Business
In 2005 Joe Hachem became the first Australian to win the World Series of Poker Main Event, and was the first to win a record-breaking $7.5 million. His good luck continued when he returned home to Australia and discovered that, because poker is considered his hobby, Australian tax law states that he gets to keep what amounts to the $10 million Australian dollars tax-free. A recent interview with the Sydney Morning Herald states that Hachem says the win has not changed his life.

Poker dictionary:
- RAGS - Board cards that are small, not suited and not in sequence, e.g., 9-5-2. When "rags flop", it is unlikely that anyone has a good hand, except possibly the big blind in an unraised pot.
- PAY OFF - Calling a bet with little expectation of winning, unless the opponent is bluffing.
- TOKE - Gambling term for "tip", as in "Toke the cocktail waitress". Comes from the term "Token of appreciation".
- LITTLE SLICK - In Hold'em, hole cards of A-2, suited or not.
- SMALL BLIND - In games with two blinds the first blind is the SMALL BLIND because it is usually one-half (or less) the second or large blind.
- OVERPAIR - In Hold'em, a pair in the hole that is larger than any community card on the board.
