Legislature Blamed for Illegal Video Poker Fiasco
The poker war continues in North Carolina, where the political, moral and ethical wrangling has reached from illicit back rooms stuffed with video poker machines to the halls of government. House Speaker Jim Black, along with the video poker industry, is under investigation for receiving campaign checks from low-wage store clerks for around a thousand dollars each, and new information suggests there is additional money coming from a business that may be operating against the law.
Cumberland County Sheriff Earl “Moose” Butler says that the legislature should take the blame for the video poker mess, as the House has not allowed a vote to be taken which may have outlawed video poker completely, a common goal among the lawmakers in North Carolina.. …

Poker jargon:
- REBUY - [1] To purchase additional chips after an initial buy-in, usually after losing most or all of the previous buy-in. This term is most often used in certain tournaments where if one loses all one's chips, or falls below a certain minimum chip level, for an additional sum of money one can purchase a fixed amount of additional tournament chips. Usually there is a time limit (The "REBUY PERIOD") as to how long rebuys are allowed. [2] The additional chips "rebought" in tournament play.
- STRAIGHT FLUSH - A hand consisting of 5 cards in sequence and the same suit.
- TRIP - Three of a specific kind, as in "Trip sixes".
- BELLY BUSTER - An inside straight draw. Same as GUTSHOT.
- LITTLE SLICK - In Hold'em, hole cards of A-2, suited or not.
- FACE CARD - A jack, queen or king (a card with a face on it, not joker).
