2006 National Heads Up Tournament Matches Success of Last Year
The second running of NBC’s National Heads Up Poker Championship was a hotly anticipated event, and even though the winner is known to anyone with an Internet connection and a burning desire to know, poker fans still tuned in Saturday afternoon to watch the play by play action.
The 2006 National Heads Up Poker Championship, which was filmed at the new multi million dollar poker room at Caesar’s Palace, was a ratings hit, matching the same numbers the first show put up last year. The show’s numbers even beat out those of other sporting programs, typically a big draw for weekend viewership, and sending a strong signal to the nay sayers that poker is alive and well. The program will air on Saturday afternoons, with repeat showings on Fridays, until May 21st when the Heads Up action will come to a close, with the winner taking home $500,000….
