Poker Growth Expected to Slow to a Crawl
It may seem impossible, but certain studies suggest that the growth of poker is going to take a nosedive. PartyGaming recently cited a study in their security filings that suggested that the annual revenue of poker is going to take a major hit in the next five years. Projected over the next five years the annual growth rate of poker will drop from 158%, the growth rate from the year 2000 to 2005, to around 18% from 2005 two 2010.

Poker lingo:
- FIFTH STREET - In stud poker, the fifth card to be dealt to each player. Sometimes used to refer to the last card dealt in Hold'em, although the more common term for this is RIVER (q.v.).
- READ - To determine whether an opponent has a good, medium or bad hand by observing his personal behavior. An inexact science.
- LEAK - To show one's hole cards (often unknowingly).
- MITES AND LICE - A hand consisting of two pair, threes over twos.
- OPEN-HANDED - A category of games characterized by a part of each player's hand being exposed.
- RAINBOW - In flop games, a flop in which no two cards are of the same suit. "The flop was A 9 7 rainbow."
